SA Mobile Data is Getting Much, Much Faster...
Africa is the world's hotspot for mobile data growth, and is often referred to as 'The Mobile Continent'. The majority of the population experiences the internet for the first time on a mobile screen. South Africa is leading the charge with average mobile download speeds in 2018 now hitting 20Mbps, with average upload speeds around 9Mbps.
MyBroadband released the below table in April this year, showing South African suburbs ranked in average download speed. Refer to the MyBroadband article here.
Highly populated urban areas enjoy higher speeds than the rural areas, which does beg the question and highlight a potential gap in the market to be addressed – how can rural customers be catered for in the near future?
